Raketu’s Movie And Television Listings Combined With Social Networking Features Now Available To RakWeb Users

Thursday, July 26, 2007 09:06 AM NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Raketu Communications Inc., the global Internet communications, information and entertainment company, today announced that it’s Internet protocol television (ipTV) streamed movie and television content, along with all video on demand (VOD) content is now available to users of Raketu’s RakWeb web-based voice over IP (VoIP) service. Previously available only to users of Raketu’s downloadable LaunchPad desktop client, RakWeb users can now view streamed and on demand movie and television content directly via Raketu.com, while taking advantage of Raketu’s social networking features, including the ability to participate in real-time chats with other television viewers.

“We want to give consumers of Raketu as many convenient access points as possible to the services they enjoy and rely on every day,“ said Greg Parker, President of Raketu. “Raketu users who want to access our ipTV and VOD content, and other social networking services can now do so entirely via the Internet without downloading our Raketu LaunchPad desktop application. Both the RakWeb service and the Raketu LaunchPad are fully synchronized.”

Raketu also announced that it has expanded its ipTV and VOD content offering through media partnerships with UK-based independent film and television distributor WYSIWYG, UK-based 3DDGroup one of the leading distributors of music and live event programming, high profile documentaries and independent films, and US-based SandBoxTV. Raketu currently offers ipTV streamed channels featuring Music Videos, Movies (full length and trailers), Science/Adventure, Comedy, and News (both US and international news channels). VOD content includes films, music videos, and live concerts.

RakWeb users can now access this content through a web-based navigation bar, click what they want to view and the movie or television show will play. While viewing streamed ipTV content, users can see the public profiles of all other RakWeb subscribers watching the same show, they can also see show ratings, give their opinion, and participate in real-time group chats around the content. These are the same features currently available in the Raketu desktop client.
