Raketu for Windows Vista

Following these steps should help you run Raketu successfully on Vista. Once you install the Raketu software successfully, you need to follow the following steps: ( PDF with more pictures )

1. Exit the Raketu software. Double click on my computer and go to C: Program Files->
   
2. You will see Raketu folder here, right click in Raketu folder, and left click on Properties.
   
3. Click on the “Security” tab; select your computer user name and click “Edit”. If you do not see your user name you need to add it by clicking on “Add”.
   
4. Once you click on “Edit” select you user name once again and click on Full access(permission) [Make sure you have the write and modify right]
   

   

5. Click "Apply" then OK.
6. Then Right click on your Raketu Icon on the desktop then click “Properties” and then click on “Compatibility” tab then check the option “Run this program as an administrator” and then click on “Apply” and “Ok".
   
   

After you finish step #6 you will see a shield added to the Raketu icon on your desktop, see the picture below:

Errors in Windows Vista while using Raketu.

Raketu is compatible with Windows Vista. However you may come across with the following errors:

1. “No class registered”
   
2. “Failed to set data for”
   
3. IpTV: “The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.pls) that does not match the file format playing the file may result in unexpected behavior. Do you want the player to try to play this content?
   
4. Media Player (Video):-“A problem occurred in initializing MCI”
   
5. “Media Player (MP3):- “No “MCI” device open”.
   
6. “RakOut.exe RAKOUT HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING - WINDOWS WILL TRY TO FIND A SOLUTION”. Download fix here

My Raketu applications terminates when I try to receive any .exe file or .exe link on Windows Vista?

Vista for security reasons restricts the transfer .exe file and links. Raketu application in general allows its users to send and receive “.exe” file both via file transfer option and in form of link through IM chat option. However if you are running Raketu on Vista and wish to transfer .exe file you will not be able to do so.

Raketu displays an alert message when some one tries to send you an “.exe” file or link. If you click on “Accept” you can receive the “.exe file. Unlike any other Operating System, Vista does not allow you to receive .exe file/link due to its security settings. Therefore if you using Windows Vista and click “Accept” to accept the .exe file/link, Vista automatically terminates the Raketu software.

If you are non-administrator, it is advisable to ask your computer administrator to install Raketu on Windows Vista for you.
